Announcing Miercoles Municipal! Every Wednesday, representatives from my office will be at a different community center in the 7th Council District helping with city services.
Today we are going to West Kensington Ministry at 2140 North Hancock Street.
What services are we helping with?
Navigating city services is sometimes difficult. My office is here to assist.
Our team can help you with property tax related issues and programs including: The Senior Tax Freeze, Homestead, LOOP, OOPA, and Payment Plans.
We can also assist with payment agreements and applications for PECO CAP, PGW CRP, PWD TAP, LIHEAP, LIHWAP, the Senior Water Discount, and payment plans for utilities.
What we really want to help with today is LOOP. A program that can save you money on your property taxes that has an application deadline at the end of the year.
What is LOOP? Should I sign up?
The Longtime Owner Occupants Program (LOOP) is a Real Estate Tax relief program for eligible homeowners whose property assessments increased by 50% or more from last year or 75% over the past five years. To qualify, applicants have to live in their homes for 10 years or more, their property taxes must be current, or in an Owner-Occupied Payment Agreement or installment plan, and have an income that falls below the limit set for your family size. Earlier this year, I met with the Philadelphia Department of Revenue and we extended the deadline for LOOP so people in our communities who did not know about the program could learn and apply before the end of the tax year.
How do you apply?
All you need to do is stop by one of our Miercoles Municipal events! Our staff has the all of the forms and expertise you need to apply. The events will take place every Wednesday from 3-7 and we will continue to publicize where we plan to be each week.
If you cannot make it, that is no problem. You can also apply by printing out this form. Then mail it to the Philadelphia Department of Revenue at P.O. Box 53190 Philadelphia, PA 19105.
